Wepa! Canyon Cody|DJ Earthtones?DJ ELIXIR

This special edition of ¡Wepa! features Ojai's own Canyon Cody on the wheels of steel. It's also part of the 3-day Sound4Sound benefit, the goal of which is to raise money to soundproof the Ojai Deer Lodge. The Lodge is doing everything it can to preserve our vibrant local music scene while also preserving the tranquility of our neighborhood. This is an expensive endeavor, and we need help from the community to succeed. The $10 cover will go directly to paying for soundproof windows and other acoustic improvements.

Ojai native Canyon Cody always brings the party when he comes home to visit, so you don't want to miss this one! His music library is deep and his knowledge of global rhythms is vast. Tapping into his Cuban roots, Canyon skillfully weaves a tapestry of Afro-Latin rhythms with bass-heavy beats. It's impossible to sit down when he's on the decks, so make plans for dancing!

A special opening vinyl set by DJ Earthtones will set the proper vibe for the evening. As co-host of the popular Beat Tropíc pool parties at the Ojai Rancho Inn, DJ Earthtones has some seriously deep record crates. His selection of Afro-centric rhythms, Latin grooves and global beats has been fueling the popularity of Beat Tropíc for the past two years.

Resident DJ Elixir will help kick things off with an eclectic mix of vibes ranging from South America to the Caribbean. Elixir’s sets are heavily influenced by his Venezuelan roots and his love of reggae and old-school hip-hop. When he’s not hosting ¡Wepa! Or Underground Sessions, you might catch him dropping a guest set with La Junta Sound System in Los Angeles, Afro Funké in Venice or Unfiltered Soul in Las Vegas.

There will also be a silent auction for an amazing original piece of artwork from local artist Carmen Abelleira, who also happens to be Canyon Cody's mom! She has generously donated her time and talent for both the auction and the cover art to this event.
