A bit about touring band, Genuine Parts

Formed in 2014 by four Bay Area women united by a love of rock n’ roll, motorcycles, and the open road, Genuine Parts chew up the garage sound and spit it back out with heavy riffs and blaring guitar leads. While the band cites KISS, Girlschool and The Stooges as some of their their biggest influences, their sound is uniquely their own. Fresh off the release of their first single, the band’s second EP cassette released on Southpaw Records shows the band going in a heavier direction. Stay tuned because there is a lot more to come from Genuine Parts.

Donovan Keith

Donovan Keith

The man who never stops moving. First known as the founder and frontman of Soul Track Mind, Donovan Keith embodies the ideals of both stunning vocal ability and infectiously frenetic showmanship. The mystery has yet to be solved: How can a mild-mannered ginger sing AND dance like that?

A native Midwesterner, Donovan chose Austin, Texas, to cultivate his music dreams and moved across the country with no job, friends, or family to receive him and no experience in leading the band he was about to form. Soul Track Mind grew into an outlet for Donovan’s love of soul and R&B music and gave him the perfect vehicle for his first years of development as a songwriter and performer.

From 2008 to 2016, STM was eagerly embraced by the Austin music scene and expanded like a blast wave throughout Texas and the South, out to both coasts, and all the way back to the northerly states of his youth. Donovan’s one-of-a-kind, dance-infused stage show became beloved by fans and acknowledged by reviewers across the country, earning kudos from the likes of Performer Magazine which declared, “Aside from showcasing an impressive vocal range and blues-soaked sound, Keith can engage an audience with his unbridled enthusiasm and dance moves.”

Successes for Donovan with STM included winning the Music Prize in 2014; performing by special invitation at the 2015 Texas Governor’s Inaugural Ball; sharing bills with Enrique Iglesias, David Crosby, Erykah Badu, and other top talents; and five years closing out the Viva Big Bend Festival in Alpine, Texas.

A shift was underway with STM’s third album, Unbreakable (2014), on which Donovan began to assert his creative presence with more complex lyrics and themes closer to his heart and experiences. The album served as Donovan’s catharsis from a dark night of the soul and also as the impetus to launch the next era of his career.

Now this red-haired, soul-singing dynamo has a brand-new project all his own. Combining the voice and moves that fans have grown to crave with fresh new songs and piano skills you never knew he had, Donovan Keith is inviting you along for his next (r)evolution. In 2017 he released an EP, Carry Me On, which gave fans their first taste of Donovan’s latest songwriting direction, and those who knew him from STM embraced his new project in familiar venues and markets around the country, including his highly anticipated annual tours to Florida and West Texas.

2018 brought Donovan a massive infusion of attention, launched with an incendiary performance on the Mohawk stage in January for Black Fret, a music patronage organization whose members seek out the best Austin-based talent and support those artists with a wildly enthusiastic fan community, professional mentoring, and financial support to elevate them to the next level. In December, Black Fret members recognized Donovan with a $20,000 grant, opening more options and opportunity for a 2019 that is sure to be astonishing.

Pacific Range

Pacific Range is rooted in the beautiful, sunshiny-coast of California. The band's style takes from many influences ranging from The Allman Brothers and Grateful Dead, to The Band and The Flying Burrito Brothers. Clay Finch (guitar & vocals), Seamus Turner (guitar & vocals), and Nate War (drums) met around 2013 while studying music up at Chico State. After discovering a strong musical connection they formed a band (Dakota Cree) and began recording at the university's recording studio and playing around town.

Since then the group has gone through several incarnations, and recently started up in Los Angeles as a 4 piece. Bassist Cameron Wehrle went to high school with Clay and joined the group after seeing one of Pacific Range's live performances. He has been with the band ever since.

Patrolled By Radar

You can trace an almost linear route from the unfiltered moments of Dylan and The Hawks through Gram Parsons, to Tom Petty (with a slight detour along the way for chunks of the Rolling Stones circa 1969-72 and a speed-bump called Tom Waits in the '90s). The latest extension of this musical highway is paved by Patrolled By Radar.

On their new album, Cool Your Jets, the Los Angeles based band fuses the finer elements of the past four decades to craft rock songs whose appeal defies genre or classification.

Once again the band tapped Grammy nominated producer Peter Curry (Los Straitjackets) to record, mix & produce the album, as he's done with their first two releases, and the strength of that relationship translates to the confidence PBR displays in their songwriting and performance. Curry, who also plays bass (and sometimes drums) on the new release refers to Souza's song- writing as "flash fiction with music." Adding further praise, he says, "Jay has more in common with The Kinks than any of the current crop of 'Americana.' His songs tell stories that are simultaneously funny, sad and ironic, and the music rocks. He's one of those rare songwriters who crafts melodies as strong as his lyrics."

Self-described as a "consummate bar band in the '70s Pub Rock tradition," with multiple rounds of touring on their own across the entire country throughout 2013 and 2014, Patrolled By Radar has shared the stage with an eclectic array of artists such as Los Lonely Boys, Porter Wagoner w/Marty Stuart, Taj Mahal, The Jayhawks, Tim Finn w/ Richard Thompson, Holly Golightly & The Broke-offs, The Gourds, and a recently completed run of shows opening for the legendary Dave & Phil Alvin.

Funkdamental Flavors III with Nolskee & Creewee

On Saturday April 27th a couple of wild and crazy guys are gonna be doing some funky/experimental stuff on stage at the world famously haunted Ojai Deer Lodge (worry not, the ghosts are benevolent!)

For your ears: Nolskee will be honoring us with a finely crafted selection of rare funk, home brewed crustadelic beats, legendary vinyl and some booty shakin’ dance tunes! An unorthodox DJ, Nolskee brings it unique and heavy on the crust, while paradoxically massaging your brain with subtle sonic pleasures. Dancing is a must and comes naturally!

For your eyes: Creewee pulled himself from the primordial ooze many years ago, he has since been trying to recreate the kaleidoscopic veneer found at the bottom of the cradle of life. He has failed at every attempt. But, the byproducts of this pursuit create brilliant abstraction and scintillating eye candy. Mixing many different techniques and mediums, you never know exactly what you will get when this intuitive artist gets on stage.

The combined effects of these two performers has become “Funkdamental Flavors” and we implore you to come out and see it for yourself!

Balto / Hannah Jobus

"Balto sound like the kind of band you’d want playing in the background as you cruise down the highway with a road soda clutched in your hand." - What Youth”

At 21, after a failed attempt to begin a journalism career in Moscow and an overwhelming heartbreak, Dan Sheron’s life collapsed. Without so much as saying goodbye to his friends or bothering to pack a bag, Dan took a train bound for Siberia and headed east with a child's guitar and journal that quickly filled with songs. At some point in those manic months, Balto was born, in a third-class train car, singing and drinking among strangers, somewhere east of Novosibirsk.

Over time, Balto transformed from a songwriting vehicle into a rock n roll band – performing a boozy, swaggering style of American music rooted at the intersection of Motown, Big Star, Plastic Ono Band-era Lennon, and Jackson Browne. Their interactive live performances have drawn comparisons to fiery indie rockers My Morning Jacket and Wilco, while Seattle-based curators Artist Home describe their most recent LP Strangers (2017) as “a tangle of beautiful, messy emotions, wrapped up in a sound that’s warmly familiar yet brimming with soul and tiny details that are touched by magic.” They continue to describe Sheron as, “a roots-rock storyteller with the heart of an Edwardian poet—full of romance, sharp observation, knowing humor, and at least a slug or two of whiskey.”

Songs For Viktor, the latest 7” from Balto, is a brash statement of purpose from the  newly transplanted Los Angeles band – written for a dear friend fallen on hard times in Moscow. Howling guitars and a heavy pocket of bass and drums recede to a boil, opening up the space for an almost Elton John-esque style of songcraft and storytelling. Balto is touring on the west coast in Summer 2018.

The Deltaz have worked over a decade to master a wide spectrum of sounds, from heavy blues and psychedelic rock to classic country and folk. Brothers John Siegel and Ted Siegel spend many of their days perfecting new records at a handmade studio adjacent to residence in the hills of Mulholland Highway that overlook Los Angeles. They have become mainstays at a nearby Southern Californian institution, The Old Place, regularly performing for patrons at the ever-packed restaurant in the mountains. There, they caught the ear of the late bassist Rick Rosas (Neil Young, Joe Walsh), who became a mentor to the group. They spend their remaining hours rigorously touring, headlining shows across the country while attracting the attention of sonic peers such as alt-country act The White Buffalo and Mississippi Blues legend Watermelon Slim, playing with both on several occasions. The Deltaz have had their music placed on CMT and MTV television shows such as Jersey Shore and Party Down South.
