In a style described as Psychedelic Billy Joel, Monte Xannic is a rock band that aims to bring sheer honesty and straightforward delivery back to rock while paying homage to the past but not living in it. Monte Xannic began as a creative outlet for the songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Bryan Dixon, who had been a member of Softsilence and afterwards a Nashville songwriter. He needed an escape from the plastic expectations of his label at the time. After recording a home demo of “We Are Never Alone”, a track steeped in anti class warfare and pro marijuana use, he brought the song to his label and the conservative bosses at the company quickly dropped him upon listening. With Nashville in his rearview, he hoped to find a place for his songs that would be more accepting and made the move to LA. With Monte Xannic, Dixon built a kind of creative free-for-all for himself, allowing him to be more lyrical about social issues, drug experimentation and his own spirituality. In June 2015, Monte Xannic perfomed the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival.
