Johnzo West is an Indiana born songwriter and guitarist based out of Los Angeles, California. West is also the guitarist for Eric Burdon & The Animals and former L.A. based psych rock band Fortress Social Club.
"West's voice reminds me of a slightly more polished version of Phosphorescent, think Tom Petty riffs with Eric Clapton level solos." - No Country For New Nashville
West has shared the stage with Eric Burdon, Dickey Betts of The Allman Brothers Band, Toots and the Maytals, Jackie Greene, The Cadillac Three, The Stone Foxes and many others.
After graduating from Indiana University, West relocated to Los Angeles, CA, and recorded his first album, 'Bring On The Burdon', a collection of mostly stripped down acoustic tunes and home recordings, followed by the full length ‘Glory’ and ‘The Cause and the Cure’ EP. In 2017 West released three new singles, 'Givin Myself Away', 'City Nights' and 'The Drop'.
In 2016, West's band, The Wayward Souls, began backing Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Eric Burdon, as The Animals. West continues to record tour worldwide with Burdon.
West has also collaborated with Miley Cyrus contributing their cover of ‘You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go’ to Amnesty International’s compilation record, ‘Chimes of Freedom: A Tribute To Bob Dylan’. The duo also released a cover of ‘Look What They’ve Done To My Song, Ma’. West and Cyrus have performed live together on The Ellen Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live and at numerous charity events.
